Heatseekers History

Helsinki Heetseekers are the first official team out of Helsinki, and the second Finnish team after the Icebreakers. Since 2006 the Heatseekers have been welcoming every one to come and try Australian Rules Football.
 

The Helsinki Heatseekers were established in conjunction with the IceBreakers - Finland's national team. Most players from the Heatseekers also play in the national team, but Finland now has other teams in Turku and Salo.

AFL in Finland began in 2007 with domestic matches between two teams, the Helsinki Heatseekers and Salo Juggernaughts.

In 2008, the Finland National League was created. Helsinki, Salo and Espoo were the three teams participating in the championship.



 

 

The Heatseekers were the first national winner of this competition. While we only played 4 games, we were the only team to win three times during the season.

In 2009, with Turku Dockers entering the championship, things changed a little. We played more games than previous seasons and after the regular season we met the Dockers in the Grand Final.

 

 

 

 For the coming 2010 season, our goal is quite clear: we want to challenge last year's winner and regain
